We're BAACCCK

We finally made it to the Middle West as I like to call it. Things have been adventurous to say the least. Aside from the "Money Pit" of a home that we live in, the "war torn" looking homes that surround us, the fact that we live DEEP in the ghetto, and we pay 90210 type rent . . . .*singin* every-thing is coming up roses." The people in this city so far seem really really nice. I'm surprised and a tad skeptical because I'm not used to it. I must admit it is refreshing. That's one of the best things so far. Of course the DOD of LOVE it! They've been running from room to room, from the 1st floor up to the 3rd. I've yet to really be in the basement because coming from Cali that's as foreign to me as snow on Christmas.

Other than our airline adventures with the "family friendly" South.West airlines *smirking* and Ms. Ayana feeling the need to wander the 3 different airports we happened to land on it was a snap *snappin fingers* getting here. *cough* One of these days I'll have to tell the story of how quickly flying with children can get one put off airplanes BEFORE they even board. I watched in horror as this almost happened to a poor lady on the same flight as ours. *shakin head*

Well that's all for now. Hopefully I'll have some pics to share of our traveling adventures or maybe even an update from the hubby. Now that we've reached the 21st century here in "Da Lou" (i.e. an internet connection) I can get up to speed.

Moving Day

Tomorrow is moving day or rather packing day so all the contents of our home will be boxed up and waiting for pick-up. My phone and internet services will be off sometime tomorrow so I guess I won't be "plugged in" for sometime. Yes I'm addicted to the dayum net. *shakin head*

Everything seems to be in a state of "waiting" so that's what we're all doing. I need to learn to be calm because I hate the "waiting" feeling and not knowing what's going to happen next. *sigh* At least the suit cases are packed and the DOD have their hair all washed, combed out and styled. Cuz lord knows when I'll be able to do that again. I did complete the stuff on my list so that's a good thing. I even managed to wash, fold and put away the laundry. (how boring huh).

I guess I'm kinda excited about moving because there is a Mocha Moms chapter in the area where we'll be living so I'm excited about that. I do plan on joining once we get there. And there seems to be lots more people of color, LOTS more. So that gives me something else to look forward too. And there doesn't seem to be a shortage of African-centered activities either (like drumming and African dance!). Boy I tell ya, living in the Northwest was nothing short of a true culture shock for me. I now understand the true meaning of a "homogeneous population" because it's here. And the folks here ain't afraid to "express" their views about it. *shakin head* So I'll be glad I'm gone. Just sad that I'll be THAT much further away from my Cali family yet closer to my Maryland family. So that's sort of bitter sweet.

So we're off to "see the wizard" and what adventures await us next. Until the time.

We're Not in Kansas Anymore

Well it seems that the haze I was in is over because my hubby has actually set a date for when we'll be in St. Louis. It looks like March 17th will be my last day in the "great" northwest. I can't say that I'm sad to be leaving Washington because, I ain't. *chuckle* Not to say that I'm just jumping for joy to be relocating AGAIN because I'm not. I'm just excited for the new possibilities. Not to mention there seems to be waaaaay more folks of color than where we are now, which is DEEP in MicroSoft country and I mean DEEP.

So it's off to the the midwest, some place I've NEVER been. The cost of living seems to be alot cheaper than Washington and California so that's a plus. Once we get acclimated to the area, I'm really hoping we'll be able to buy a home. I always said that I wanted to live in all these different places but I was 22 years old and had never lived outside of the Bay Area, let alone Cali. And I didn't have any children. Well honey, let me tell you. Moving from place to place and state to state with babies - AIN'T FUN. It's nothing adventurous and is something I wouldn't wish on an enemy if I had one. It really takes a toll on you. And trying to figure out a dayum area via the internet and maps is not what I'd consider ideal. You know? So I really want this last move to be "the one." As in, the one that the hubby LOVES so we can settle in the St. Louis area and just be there. Not that I couldn't move to another state, but dayum I'd at least like to give it 5 years or more.

So the movers are coming on Thursday to give us an estimate on moving a 4 bed 2 bath home, plus the sh*t in the garage (the truck included) and some sh*t we still have in storage. I'm hoping this move will smooth and nothing like what happened when we moved to Washington cuz I don't know if I could take it. At least I'm not pregnant *chuckle* Not saying that's bad, but you know the last 2 times we have moved I have been VERY pregnant. Not fun!

Seeing as we're gonna be moving rather quickly, I'm trying to use as much food in the frig as I can without resorting to throwing that sh*t way. That would be such a waste. And I doubt I could give it to the 3 people I actually know in Washington because ain't too many folks down with "veggie burgers" and veganish like foods. *sigh* And I really don't want to waste that sh*t. We did that before cuz there was no one to take it. . . .Ohhhh I think I'm starting to have the moving jitters and we ain't even got started yet. Okay, let me run and start trying to take these dayum pictures off the wall so I can have all our picture hangers in one place. I ain't even gonna tell you how long it took to find all the different places the packers put our sh*t. It's a nice idea to have someone else pack. But ain't nobody gonna pack your sh*t the way you would. No matter how professional they say they are.

I'm off for now.
